Strict limits urged on Leaf blowers
Toronto Torontos board of health has endorsed heavy restrictions on Leaf blowers in the city and Ken Dryden, President of Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment, is livid.
Why should the board of health clamp down, no pun intended, on my players, Dryden complained. They are in the throws of a do-or-die season and now this imposition.
The board of health has suggested that Leaf blowers be banned from areas of the city that are designated as quiet zones. This annoys Dryden even more.
Sometimes there is the odd scream of ecstasy but the noise is never that loud or enduring. Other than a little moaning and sometimes gagging, there usually is no appreciable noise at all.
Leaf blowers will also be restricted on residential properties year-round except October and November, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. On commercial sites, they can be used year-round but with the same limitations to weekdays.
This is totally unrealistic, whined Tie Domi, Some of the guys are single and they wont be allowed to ease their tensions in their own homes? I cant imagine going to a commercial site for that sort of activity. What was the board thinking?
The boards minutes indicate that an ad hoc committee will determine the need for similar bans on the Argo Bounce and the Raptors slurpee at 711s. They have been mandated to consider alternatives to the team name Blue Jay, for obvious reasons. |
