The Warm Sun on My Face

While driving down the road,
My thoughts drift off to yesterday.
Life was tough and so many things
Seemed to never go my way.
My mind, so full of thoughts
Of what I should have done.
And the things I would,
If I just could, somehow, erase.
Then smile,
As I feel the warm sun on my face.

Nameless people in their cars
Who quickly pass me by,
Fail to find what satisfies,
And often wonder why
They struggle to keep up
To all the others in the race.
I drive,
And feel the warm sun on my face.

I look around today and find
That lifes more real to me.
Simple things have warmed my heart
And, for my sake, set me free.
While traveling down this road
The only thing that I will chase
Will be to feel
This gentle warm sun on my face.
