Sky

High above summers green,
Winters cold and snowy scene,
Over oceans and mountains high,
Above it all, there am I.

My clouds give shade, in heat of day,
Upon the ground, as fog, they lay,
Can twist and turn with ferocious power,
And moisten the most fragile flower.

Taking those on metal wings
Over towns and fields, hills and streams,
With birds, butterflies and other things
Like hot-air balloons and kites with strings.

With sun, the darkness I erase.
At night, see through me into space.
After the pouring rain, you'll know
To search the colors of my bow.

My best I save till end of day,
With pinks and gold I paint away.
No grander site before your eyes,
All for you, from me, the sky!
