Lost

My mind seeks answers, but knows none.
My heart aches for comfort, it evades me.
My hand reaches out for touch, only loneliness.
My soul cries for joy,  it turns me away.
My eyes search for a smile, but I am blind.
My ears readied for one word, only silence.
Who will rescue me from this dungeon?
Who will lift me from the pit?
Will not one care to try?
I wait for a sign that life is not done with me,
That my course is not at its end.
I bleed bitter tears of shame,
For things done and yes undone,
Of lost hope and regret, of dreams unfulfilled.
My soul, where are you?
In what dark place will you now reappear?
