Valentine

Awakened from a dreamy sleep
Strange visions in my mind,
As if I had just visited
Another place or time.
So I closed my eyes to recreate
All that I had seen
Which left my mind to contemplate
What this could surely mean.
Wings, as has an angel,
But on the body of a child
Who seemed a bit mischievous
And a little wild;
For quivered shafts were flying
Form his golden bow
Which caught his victims unaware
Who appeared to like it so.
He giggled as he readied
Another fiery dart.
Drew his bow then quickly turned
And aimed it at my heart!
He paused but for a moment,
As if to let me know,
That I would soon be in his power
And then he let it go!
I stepped aside and caught it,
Before it found its mark.
Then with all my strength, threw it back
Which pierced him in the heart.
Immediately, his countenance
Changed, to my surprise.
He cried out the name of Phyche
Then quickly vanished before my eyes.
At that, my dream had ended.
But now just to let you know,
I need not Cupids arrow
To know I love you so!
