- Lynch Traded to Spokane: Doug Lynch has been dealt to the Spokane Chiefs, it's tough to see Doug go, but I wish him all the best in Spokane.
- Doug Lynch Gets Drafted By Edmonton Oilers!: Doug has been chosen in the second round of the NHL draft, Doug was chosen 43rd overall by the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers aquired that pick from the Boston Bruins. Doug's Red Deer Rebel teammates Colby Armstrong & Jeff Woywitka were both taken by teams from Pennsylvania, Armstrong to Pittsburgh (21st overall) and Woywitka to Philidelphia (27th overall).

- Doug has moved up 15 spots in the final rankings for the NHL Draft.

- In his rookie season, Doug was a finalist for Scholastic Player Of The Year, and because of that, won the Rex Turple Memorial Award for the top academic Rebel. Doug was in Grade 11 and had a grade percent of 76.
- The January 2001 NHL Draft Rankings by the Central Scouting Bureau, Doug was ranked 38th out of North American's in the draft. Some other of Doug's teammates were also ranked (Colby Armstrong-15th, Jeff Woywitka-17th, and Joel Stepp-67th.)
