This is an interview that was in the Official Magazine of the Red Deer Rebels "Onside Magazine" Vol. 6 No. 4

Cam Moon: Going into the season did you have any goals regarding the draft?
Doug Lynch: I just want to play well every night and continue to improve. I want for people watching me play, to see me doing things better as the season wears on. I didn't really have a goal per se, as far as the round that I get drafted in, or the team that I go to, I just want to keep getting better. To be put back on defence put a little monkey wrench into my plans, but I'm adjusting and trying to improve each day.

Cam Moon: How do you feel you have improved from last season?
Doug Lynch: The coaches have been helping me after practice to adjust to playing defence at this level. Also my teammates have been great, especially Ross Lupaschuk my defence partner helping me with the finer points of playing the positions. The more I play and the more ice time that I get I will improve.

Cam Moon: Do you think about the draft at all during the season?
Doug Lynch: I try to go to the game and not think about the NHL draft. That's what you try to do, but it's always in your mind. You have to try to block it out. You have to just play the same game that you played since you were four or five years old. If you approach it like that, you can forget that someone is watching every game.

Cam Moon: What do you have to do to move up in the draft rankings?
Doug Lynch: I want to make sure that I keep putting points up on the board and averaging a point every couple of games. I also want to make sure I play good defence, as a defenceman that's your number one goal. So if I can keep my goals against dowm when I'm on the ice and my plus/minus up and help the team, and be strong and physical back there, then that will go a long way. I want to learn as much as I can from our coaching staff about playing defence and trying to play at the next level.

Cam Moon: How important is team success to how NHL teams see you?
Doug Lynch: You don't get noticed by playing well in the 9-3 type games, you get noticed with good play in the playoffs. Our goal is to go as far as we can and that's the Memorial Cup. We have a good team that will work hard to attain that goal. The farther we go the more impressions we as players can make on the minds of the scouts.
