“The New Warriors”

In 1881 men picked up guns
Women hid their knives

Children learned to shoot

Running for their  lives

These families were not the weakest link

They held their  own making America think

Back in that day many died

Here today there is a different vibe

A new warrior would arise

It already has been phrophesied

Out of the ashes of hatred jealousy violence

And genocide

Kept down for so many years

This new warrior has no  fears

He’s intelligent and knows what to do

Been around his country and you might know him to

You might see her walking in outer space

People move aside while she takes her  place

Not seated in silk but in blood moneyed cotton

Wearing the badge of history  by elders who taught them

The meanings the message the tight renegades

Moving in silence but still rocking  night time raids

Spitting poetry and busting up lies

Concerned with your children

Wake up stand up the New Warrior arrives

The new warrior doesn’t ride a horse

The new warrior knows the score

Don’t front don’t lie don’t try

This new warrior doesn’t waste his time getting high

Standing on your corner watching girls go by

Drinking stinking malt liquor or Colt 45

Their weapon of choice will make you cry

Named after Geronimos’  grandson

Cochise’s granddaughter she’ll get it done

She’s the warrior woman Lozen

These new warriors were chosen

From birth now their holding

Down jobs and with wild displays

Of art and poetics that verbally daze

You won’t know where their coming from

Until all’s said and done these new warriors

Are taking over son

Knowledge of the system has gotten around

Patriarchal colonialisms getting broke down

Crooked tribal politicos better watch out

The new warriors are talking way to loud

Unsatisfied with the scenery in their 3rd world towns

Pack it in just go home  new warriors

You have no weaponry only lies

Your 3 piece suit aint no disguise

Your MBA can’t help you hide your

Lack of knowledge your wide asleep eyes

Singing in pow-wows  banging on a drum

Hoping to snag with some tohon o’odham

Bringing change takes selflessness son

Shows just how for you haven’t come

These new warriors  stand to fight not run

Study your arts look around and try

The new warriors have already arrived

Hedonistic dancers selfish artists hear

The new warriors  must make it clear

This aint a war for the weak

This aint a game about pride

You need  what it takes, self-sacrifice

New warriors use an explosive device

New warriors use their minds

Refined designed ultimatums denied

New warriors have finally arrrived
