"Camilo's Birthday Party"

A Personal Account by Douglas De Dawg

Very special credits and thanks for taking pictures of this special occasion and sharing them with us:

The Guest Of Honor, Camilo (right) and his pal Xochitl (left).

Justine had a bee-yoo-tee-ful birthday cake for Camilo, but there seemed to only be enough for me.  I wondered what everybody else would eat.

I arrived at the party looking very spiffy in my new bandanna.  I was checking out the party stuff when I met Zeus.  Zeus won the Biggest Dawg At The Party award.  I was very, very, very nice to Zeus!!

Then I met Lassie.  She won the Smallest Dawg At The Party award.  Lassie was very, very, very nice to everybody!

Zeus met Lassie.  How's the altitude down there?  CAN-YOU-HEAR-ME???

I decided I better guard the cake just in case an uninvited dreaded cat tried to crash the party and lick all the icing off of it.

The bipeds fed their faces and talked a lot while us dawgs mingled and sniffed and played a lot.

This is my very special friend, Pat.  I invited her to the party even though she won't let me sniff her butt.  She's highly allergic to dawgs.  She was taking a lot of allergy medicine!!  I think it was called "Corona".  (Just kidding, Pat!  I was so glad to see you at the party!!)

Hi. *sniff sniff* My name's Camilo. *sniff sniff*  You must be Douglas De Dawg's biped.  *sniff sniff*  You smell like him.  *sniff sniff*

Hey, Lassie, it's my turn to sit on Keith's lap for a while.

O.K., everybody, listen up.  Our bipeds are taking entirely too long to feed their faces and get on with the best part of this party.  So we're gonna gang up and raid the table with the Frosty Paws.  Spread the word.

Psst!  Angel!  We're gonna gang up and raid the Frosty Paws table.  While you're here, could you check something out for me?  I feel like I'm growing legs from the bottom of my neck and a fuzzy tail from the top of my head.  Does it look like that to you?

Before we raid the table, let's try dawg-to-biped mind control to get our bipeds to start the dawg festivities.  I'll go first and see if it works.

...you will give me lots of the dawg treats...you will give me lots of dawg treats...
(It's working!!!)

Where's Angel?  I want her to help me try that on my biped.

....you will give us lots of dawg treats...you will give us lots of dawg treats...and maybe some people food, tooooo....
(It doesn't seem to be working on him!)

Reba tried mind melding to get dawg treats from her biped but all he did was fluff up her fur real good.  Must have been a dawg-to-biped brain transmission problem.  Perhaps hats block dawg brain signals?  I made a note in the margin to research that immediately...right after we had our Frosty Paws.

Listen up everybody!  It's time to put on our party hats!  Come and get 'em!!

Hey, guys, I look like Merlin the Magician!!!

I'm a Unicorn!!!

I'm still guarding the cake.  Will someone save a hat for me please?

I'll save this hat for you, Douglas, while I mind meld with my biped to get her to give me some of that yummy hamburger.  And maybe a sip of Coca-Cola.  And nothing else.  Except maybe some fries.  With just a smidge of ketchup.  Ketchup makes me hiccup.

It's time for our special birthday treat...Frosty Paws!!  COME AND GET 'EM!!!

Yum!  Yum!  Yum!

Yummy Yummy Yummy!!!

Hey!  My Frosty Paw just fell through this crack!!!

WE WANT MORE!  WE WANT MORE!  WE WANT MORE!  AND MAYBE SOME CAKE, TOO!  DAWG POWER RULES!!!

But why can't dawgs have cake?  After all, it's people food and dawgs love people food!!

I'm stuffed and I think I'm losing my Le Coy Come Hither sheen and my fur is flopping.  It's time to wish Camilo a Happy Birthday and call it a night.

Before we left, our bipeds tried to get all of us together for a group photo.  What a hoot that was!!!

As we left the party, we saw these cactus flowers on a tree.

This was a rare event!  These cacti bloom once or twice a year, and the flowers are open for one night only on each occasion.  I offered to demonstrate some of my special fertilization techniques to make the cacti bloom more often, but my bipeds wouldn't let me do it.  Rats!

We all went home to go to sleep and dream about the party, with visions of Frosty Paws and Dawg Favors dancing in our heads.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAMILO!!!
