Jack's 3rd Birthday Party
December 31, 2001

Riding on Zeus - The Wonder Pony - was a great treat at the party.  Paul held Zeus's reins while Jack, The Birthday Boy, got last minute instructions from Dillon.  Then Jack rode off on his trusty steed.

Left to Right:  Paul, Mary and Morgen examined a whole tub full of furry and feathery critters.  You could even pick them up and pet them because they like it when you do that.

When you put one critter back, you could pick up another one.  The critters were all trying to munch on a piece of carrot.  The carrot seemed to be a very popular item.

I had a feeling that there might be some trouble brewing in the tub full of furry and feathery critters because Gus the Guinea Pig started acting really sneaky.  Let's see if we can hear what he's saying to Tony the Turtle.  Listen carefully...
Gus:  Psst!  Tony!  Let's gang up on the bunny rabbits and take the carrot away from them.  What do you say?  Do you want to do it?
Tony:  Sure, Gus, but those bunnies are pretty big.  Can you find someone else to help us?
Gus:  I'll see if the baby chicks will help us.

Gus:  Psst!  Tony the Turtle is going to help me get the carrot away from the bunnies.  Will you guys help, too?
Baby Chick:  Let me look at the bunnies before we make a decision, Gus.

Wow!  These bunnies are pretty big!  I'm not sure if we'll be able to get the carrot away from them.

Baby Chick:  Those bunnies are pretty big, Gus.  But we'll help you and Tony anyway.
Gus:  Great!  On the count of three, we'll all jump on them and try to get the carrot.  Ready?  One, two, THREE....

Bunnies:  Look out, guys!  They're trying to get our carrot!
Tony:  Gus!  Help me!  Get this baby guinea pig off my back.  And I think another one is biting my toes!  Hellllppppp!
Baby Chicks:  Gus!  Help!  Two of the bunnies are sitting on us and they're squishing us!  Hellllppppp!

Gus:  Hey, Annie!  Put Tony back in here right away!  We're trying to get the carrot away from the bunnies and we need his help!

Zeus:  Hang on, Kirsten!  I just heard Tony the Turtle and the baby chicks hollering for help!  We've got to go see what's happening to them!

Gus:  I can't find the carrot.  Has anybody seen the carrot?
Tony:  I haven't seen it.
Baby Chicks:  We can't see anything because we're under the bunnies and we're being squished over here.
Gus:  I think the bunnies ate the whole carrot all by themselves.  Guess we better stop trying to get it.  Let's all calm down and let everybody pick us up and pet us some more.  O.K.?
Tony:  That's fine with me.  But first you've got to get this baby guinea pig off my back.
Baby Chicks:  That's fine with us, too.  But first you've got to make these bunnies stop squishing us.
Gus:  Zeus is coming over here and he doesn't like it when we try to take the carrot away from the bunnies because it isn't a nice thing to do.  He says we're all supposed to share the carrot.  Everybody act like nothing happened.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch....

Zeus couldn't find out what was wrong with Tony the Turtle or the Baby Chicks, so he let Paul climb on for a ride while Dillon watched.  Everybody except Zeus said "cheese" when this picture was taken.  Zeus said "apple".  He likes apples a lot.  It was a great party!
