One week after training on the process of running eAuctions, I was very lucky, and assigned to a mining client on the remote island of Sumbawa, Indonesia. After a quick trip to doctor to get all the required shots I was off to Indonesia.
Without doubt the most interesting commute I have ever made to a client site. Things started out familiar enough, eight hour flight from Sydeny to Bali. Then it got interesting....

After bribing the customs officials in Bali (one of my clients had asked for a rather large bottle of Bailey's which it turned out was illegal to import in such quantity), I headed over to the AirMark office. There I paid cash (what sort of an airline doesn't accept credit cards?) for the flight to Lombok. This is the plane that I flew in from Bali to Lombok. Upon landing people where clapping and cheering on the pilot. Mt. Rinjani is the volcano dominating the background.
From Lombok it was a 30 min helicopter flight to Sumbawa. It was a little odd when the pilot took his hands of the flight controls to take my picture.
Pictures of the mining camp from the helicopter. On the left is the concentrator where the ore is ground to the consistency of fine sand. The concentrated ore is sent by pipeline to Benete Bay (right) where the ore is dried and stockpiled for shipment to smelters.
Pictures of the island (above) and the mining camp (right). This trip was probably my most rewarding Accenture client experience. The auction was very successful, the people I worked with where down to earth, and it felt like I was at summer camp!
About to land on the return trip from Sumbawa to Lombok.
