The Sun Shall Rise Again

I have been on this earth for so long that time has begun to play tricks on me, as it
often does on people. Some days, or even some years, seem to slip away like the setting
of the sun.
And yet I remain. Through countless generations. When others grow old and
whither away, I remain, cursed though I may be.
Until yesterday, I thought I was alone in my pain. But that was yesterday, and this
is the day when

The Sun Shall Rise Again

I am truly alone. For, it was him who betrayed my who still lives. The one person
in hundreds of years who I ever came close to trusting. I should have seen it coming. The
one valuable lesson I've learned through the ages is that nothing lasts forever.
Over the ocean, the sun rises with no sound. Maybe I should go back. The other
will miss me. But I dread facing Michale. He was the one who started all my trouble.
Now I must be the one to end it.

Back at the school, things seem to be functioning all right without me. No one is
outside, though I can see why. It is storming intensely. I enter through the dormatory
door, and shut it behinf me. There also appears ti be no one in here, either.
As I teleport everywhere I can think of, a growing concern builds inside me.
Where could everyone be? I hope nothing's happened to them! Even if-
The door in front of me, to the library, opens. "Wha--"
"Doubletake?! Hey, everyone! She's right here!" Jubilee yells to the other people in
the room with her.
"Where have you been? We've been looking all over for you. My psi-scan couldn't
locate you. We didn't even know if you were alive!"
"Don't worry, Ms. Frost. I'm quite all right."
"But I couldn't trace you! Where on earth were you?" She seemed astonished that
she had "almost lost me."
"Can you scan me now? Can you? Try it, see how you fair."
I stare coldly at her as she comes to the startling conclusion that she...can't!
She looks at me as if I were some sort of freak. "Then how...?"
"Don't think too hard. You might hurt yourself." I walk towards the dorm, but I
turn before exiting the room. "Consider yourself warned."
In a flash of light I am in my private room. My sanctuary, or so I think.
A hand grabs me by the arm. I turn to face it's possessor.
"You--you dare to come into my room? Stay away from me, you--"
Michales hand seemed strangely warm over my lips. "Let me lay it down for you,
Calla. It's quite simple, really. You move, I burn."
    "Mmmmm."
    "What?" He moved his hand.
"Why should I trust you, after all you've done?"
"You think I enjoyed what happened that night? The night when you got that scar?
I was there, too, don't forget. They made me sit and watch. Watch as those evil men dug
into you like putty. You think I enjoyed that? How naiive can you be?"
"You didn't care! You did nothing to help me! Nothing!"
"How do you know?!" The ferocity of his voice made me flinch. "There were sp
many of them holding me back! My super-strength wasn't fully developed then! Why didn't
you do anything?!"
"Don't you try to blame this on me. You didn't even care enough to come away
from there with me."
"If you only knew how much I care, Calla," he mumbled.
    "What?"
"Nevermind. It's out of the question." He paused for a moment, searching for
words to express his emotion. "I don't expect you to forgive me, or forget about what
happened. How could you?" He laughed to himself as he gingerly touched my scar. "And
to think, I never got a second chance."
"Neither did I," I said harshly.
It was an agreement. A tacit agreement, but an agreement nonetheless. But that
was enough for now.
"I have to go now." I started to bring a portal away, but Michale jumped towards
me and grabbed me in an iron hug.
    "Not this time, DT."
"I've never 'ported two people at once!"
Those were the last words anyone heard before we drifted through space, and
perhaps, time itself.
