Sexing Rabbits

It takes a lot of time and practice to perfect sexing rabbits And even then you will most likely make mistakes every now and then. Some breeders are able to sex rabbits right after being born. I myself, can tell at 3 weeks (with Dutch, and other small breeds), but have never tried before 3 weeks, as I dont see the point in knowing earlier. I dont usually sex them until they are about 5-6 weeks old though, as this is the age I start evulating them for show.
One thing to take into consideration is that the larger the breed is, the easier it is to sex them. Sexing a three week old Rhinelander is like sexing a six week old Dutch. As the rabbit grows up, the easier it becomes to be able to tell.
For checking the sex, you want to cradle the rabbit on its back in one arm, this will free up the other hand. With your index and middle fingers, catch the tail at the base of it with the free hand. With your thumb pull back the fold of skin to reveal the genital area.
A doe will have a loop at the top. When they reach sexually mature age this will turn red as they are ready to breed.
A buck will stick out more so, so the penis shows. When they are young, bucks are very easy to confuse as does. Between 4-6 months old the buck's testicles should drop, which are right above the genital area.

Note: I've tried many times to take pictures of what the different sexes look like, but my pictures are never clear enough to be able to tell the difference. When I get a better digetal camera I'll try again. In the mean time here are some links with great pictures for being able to tell:
