This year with Double D has been eventfull to say the least.. She has grown 14 inches. She has DOUBLED at least her body weight, her color has made a major turn around. She has had a few medical scares, and a few give me a heart attack escapes in the house where I try to run and catch her after she escaped her enclosure before she gets lost or hurt. This year has been a lot of work but work done with love. We have built a huge new enclosure, we have worked with her to the point that I can touch any part of her body without her getting ready to bite. She no longer tail whips when the dogs are around. She loves to cuddle and just be a sweety. A year in the life of an iguana is such an amazing year. Double D has now 5 spike nubs growing on her neck and who would have thought that our girl would ever have spikes. Her skin shed is still pretty rough as I still have to help her but shes doing better with it. The pictures say it all just compare them and see how far she has come. With all the work we have put in with all the work she has done this year has been amazing. I wouldnt trade it for anything. Iguanas are not easy pets to keep but if your prepared they are worth the work. An extra special thanks to Ig chick and Mr. D for all there help, emails, phone calls, and just there ears to listen when I worry about something that has happen with her, and sharing her wonderful milestones as we go along. Thanks you two without your help we wouldnt be where we are today.
So today I say HAPPY BIRTHDAY DD we love you and couldn't imagine our lives without you in them, even when you decided to knock your food dish off the shelf, or when you tail whipped my nose for not saying hi before walking into your enclosure, or when you decided you MUST set on my head no matter what. We hope we are making your life as wonderful and rewarding as you are doing for ours. . Stop by and sign our guestbook and wish DD a happy bday. |
