Week 3

In week 3 the puppies become real time wasters! :) Firstly, at the end of week 2 / beginning of week 3 the ears and eyes open. Now that the puppies can hear, the need arises to growl fiercely, bark as loud as one can, and generally make as much noise as a 3 week old standard poodle puppy can manage.

The puppies also start to sit up, and stagger around the whelping box on unsteady little legs. They begin to interact with each other, having barking matches, pawing at each other and starting to try and bite each other. They try to play, however this always ends up with the attacker falling over, due to lack of co-ordination, and then indignantly growling at the still unsuspecting victim for pushing him over!!! As i said, big time wasters! A very amusing way for me to waste hours and hours of time.

At the very end of week 3 something exciting happens....TEETH!! And this means that now the puppies can bite their brothers and sisters, and make them make a NOISE!! and then we can all have a 'make the loudest noise contest!' What fun.

And on the last day of week 3, the puppies are introduced to their first solid food. These puppies are not the neatest eaters i have ever bred....you won't believe what a mess they made!!! See the pics lower down the page :)
