| The mystery, to me, of Mystery Alaska is why everyone likes it so much. Is it the fornicating or the hockey or the combination of the two. I know Mystery Alaska was a big hit at the reunion, but my big head couldn't help but point out that the plot was the traditional underdog theme, i.e. small town sports team takes on professionals with a death thrown in for good measure. Of course some would point out that I am criticizing a movie with Russell Crowe and other good looking dudes in it, so just shut up and enjoy the show. Two stars |

| Men of Honor |
| I shouldn't really review Men of Honor because I didn't see the whole thing. I left at the part where Cuba Gooding Jr. is diving for a nuclear warhead and a Russian sub buzzes his air hose. Maybe I couldn't suspend my belief because the movie is based on a true story. I should also like Men of Honor, because the Harlem scene is filmed in Old Town Portland, 1 block away from where I used to work, as well as some other shots around town. When they were filming, Robert DeNiro's trailer was pointed out to me. Taking all that into consideration, I give the movie one lousy star. |
