| Introduction This page has been created to store information on the most intriguing and important NPC's of the Awakening campaign. For players, this site will refresh your memory of NPC's you may have forgotten and will give you more information on ones still fresh in your mind. For DM's, this site will serve as a database for adventure building and record keeping, if you'd like to use these in further adventures. For other DM's, you may copy and paste NPC statistics into your own adventures at your leisure. After the gnolls made off with all the treasure they could carry, Azzerthunal was captured and tortured, along with his pet wolf, whose name is Before a Storm on a Windless Night in Impenetrable Shadows. Two drunken gaurds beat him bloody and tore his wolf's back apart before Azzerthunal killed them with spells and escaped into the wilderness. The gnoll and his wolf decided to reside on a small mountain cliff in the heart of Cormanthor, where they live to this day. Shortly after claiming the mountain, he set about uniting a tribe of Kobolds and Goblins to protect his cave. Combat Azzerthunal loves to scout out humans and slay them for what they did to his wolf. He employs all willing Kobolds and Goblinoids willing to do his bidding. He delights in capturing Gnoll slaves, but otherwise takes no prisoners. He tries to have his army of humanoids take down intriders, but if it is necessary that he fight, he will attack all intruders with many druidic spells and powerful weapons. He allows his wolf to do as he pleases in combat, even if the wolf's actions put himself or Azzerthunal in imminent danger. Special Qualities Nature Sense: Azzerthunal can identify plants and animals and tell if drinking water is safe with perfect accuracy. Animal Companion: Azzerthunal travels with his wolf, Before a Storm on a Windless Night in Impenetrable Shadows Woodland Stride: Azzerthunal may move through brambles, thorns, overgrown areas, etc. at normal speed. She has been an anarchist from the very start, and a thorn in the side of every prominent politician ever to hold court in the great forest. Her father was a drunk who ran off on her before her birth, and her mother is imprisoned in the Elven Court for slaying him. Laela has lived a very troubled life, only momentarily heightened by her relationship with a man named Opie. The relationship between the two Wild Elves was long and drawn out, and came to an ultimate end when the Elven Court finally put a charge on Laela worthy of incarcaration. After being bailed out by Opie on half a dozen occasions, Laela made the mistake of her life when she attacked a politician. She was sent to the town dungeon for a year, and Opie left out of frusteration. When she got out of prison, she realized just how big of a mistake she had made. Her vengeful protest had exiled her from the Elven Court, and she was forced to wander the forest aimlessly until she could find a new life. During this time, she engaged in some illegal activity while building up her skills as a fighter and woodsman. Her crimes paid off and she purchased a Heaven Lotus Pheonix Tail from a Kara-Turan merchant. This weapon was mighty and magical, capable of defeating powerful adversaries. Looking for a way to start a new life, she became a member of a cult called the Ashen Compact dedicated to defeating the Dark Elves. Now, she resides in the secret abandoned temple they operate in, performing odd jobs so that the cult may one day take power in the region. Combat Laela is a violent and aggressive woman, and would be willing to take on the Devil in Hell if it furthered her beliefs. Whenever something makes her mad enough to launch an attack, she goes full force, wielding her Heaven Lotus Pheonix Tail with adept greatness and unbelievable agility. She believes that bowmanship is for hunting and the weak, so she generally does not use her Mother's magical composite bow except for when she needs food.
