16. The Mage's Guild 
Essembra has one of the top Mage's Guilds in northeastern Faerun. Although few
in number and limited in power, the Guildsman are extreme intellectuals and
develop many new spells every year, Their days are spent in quiet study, slowly
cateloging existing dewomers and creatures into vast tomes. They are historians,
scientists, philosophists, scribes, occultists, and philanthropists. They also
carry nearly every known peace of magical equipment within their budget, at
3,000 GP an item. They claim to have no leader, but an elven wizard named
Fauvrin Lyvrael holds a noticeable command over the others. Time not spent
eating or studying is spent at the Great Library, selling their works and
exchanging the gold with travelling merchants for magical items and supplies.
They live in relative poverty but their name is not obscure in the least.
