This first set are from the artbook. They are all constructed the same way, a story board sketch belting the screen over a grey background with the text in english AKIRA. Over the image on the right is the same title in japanese, in red. This is a nice set to have rotate on your desktop.

Kaneda brings his bike to s skreeching halt. Dynamic and detailed. This is one of my favorites. Multi coloured sketch on white paper. Primarily yellow.
These three backgrounds are directly from the backs of the trade paperbacks. Each features a character against a solid background with the title. Very colourful if a little intense.
 Red Kaneda
Kaneda, straddling his bike, hands on hips, smirks pugnatiously up at the viewer. Red, yellow and orange figure on blue.
 Green Kei
Kei strides towards the viewer glaring, pulling her coat closed with one hand. Purple, yellow and green figure on red.
 Yellow Tetsuo
Tetsuo hands in pockets looks evilly up at the viewer. One of my favorite images of Tetsuo. Purple, green and yellow figure on orange.
 Bleached
Tetsuo, mechanical arm at his side, cloak whipping in the wind glances back over his shoulder. When I found this image it was in sketch form, just a line drawing. I fixed the lines and coloured the image myself. It was a very arduous project and I'm happy how it came out. Full colour bleached image on grey.
 Manga
Another self coloured image from the black and white manga. Kei pulls the tarp from off Kaneda's bike. This image over a grey cityscape background with the title in red over the right side. desaturated full colour.
 Yamagata
The best of the Akira backgrounds in my mind. A full colour image, Kaneda holds the dead Yamagata standing in a splash of blood on a cream background. On the right is a bar of red with the title. Simple, colourful but not too noisy. Mostly red and cream.
