Safety Instructions
A garage door is a large and heavy object that moves with the help of either torsion springs
(mounted on a tube across the front or rear of the door) or extension springs
(stretching out along both horizontal tracks).

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR OR ADJUST
                        TORSION OR EXTENSION SPRINGS.

Springs are under extremely high tension and should only be adjusted by a trained professional.

1. Make sure that door is in full view while operating.
Do not stand or walk under a moving door.

2. Do not allow children to operate the door or opener controls.

3. Do not place fingers near tracks or between sections.

4. Visually inspect all components for signs of wear each month.
Repair or replace any worn parts.

5.
For electrically operated doors: Attachment of an electric opener requires additional bracing.
Failure to properly reinforce the top section will void the warranty.
Test the reversing feature of the opener each month and after any adjustment.
Maintenance
Every six months:

1. Lubricate all moving parts of the door with a light household oil including:
      A. Full length of springs.
      B. All bearings.
      C. Pivot points of all hinges.
      D. All steel rollers. Do not lubricate nylon rollers.

Do not put grease in the tracks.

2. Test the balance of the door:
      A. If the door is electrically operated, use the release mechanism so you can
          operate the door by hand.
      B. The door should operate smoothly and with little resistance when operated by hand.
      C. Raise the door three to four feet above the ground. It should stay open.
If it does not, have the springs adjusted by a trained professional.

3. Check door hardware.
      A. Check for bent or loose hinges.
      B. Check rollers for wear.
      C. Check tracks for alignment and wear.
      D. Visually check condition of springs. There should not be excessive gaps between coils.

DO NOT ATTEMPT ADJUSTMENTS TO THE SPRINGS.

All adjustments of the spring unit should be done by a trained professional.

4. Check the safety reversing feature of your electric opener following the manufacturer's
    directions.

Remember:
The electric opener is a convenience item and it's life and safety depends on the maintenance and testing of the entire system. A properly working garage door will help to extend the life of the opener.
