1. Introduction

Brazil r/s is a renderer designed for generating the highest quality imagery.  Advanced algorithms and a new modern, extensible architecture have led to a rendering system that cuts no corners in letting users achieve any look required, including the highest levels in photo-realism.  Physically accurate models make lights and surfaces behave in the manner expected.   With the advantages of developing in a production studio environment, Brazil r/s provides users with a solid, reliable and high-end renderer.

As a new Brazil r/s user you have now access to the latest in rendering features such as natural light modeling, photon-mapped caustics, custom physically-correct shading models (also a flexible NPR toon shader), fast selective ray-traced reflections and refractions, global illumination, sophisticated filtering and antialiasing, area lights and shadows, sub-surface scattering, depth of field, camera modeling and HDRI support.

Brazil r/s is implemented as a Renderer plugin. Some of its components include:

  • Brazil Light.  A custom light that provides area light, quality control and photon mapping-caustic capabilities.
  • Bcam.  Brazil camera object with advanced lens effects.
  • Brazil Material.  Brazil's default material with raytracing control.
  • Glass Material.  Glass material with glossy reflections and refractions and light absorption and dispersion control.
  • Chrome Material.  Optimized chrome material.
  • Toon Material.  NPR toon material with fine control for different looks.
  • HDRI.   Support for High Dynamic Range Imagery can be found in the "file type" dropdown of every bitmap requester. Brazil r/s also has the ability to output HDR images.
