The Dooney  Bar
opened  its doors for Business on the 31st of July 1999. Pre 1997 the Bar was known as the City House Lounge and before this it was known as the Punchbowl.

Three local Business Men

they came together and set  about a total refurbishment of premises......

The Dooney Bar today
is one of Sligo's leading Hostillereies, offering a mixture of all types of entairtainment: From a vibrant Carvery Lunch to an extensive Bar Bite Menu available Seven Days a week,(The Bar was awarded Best Bar Food both in 2001 & 2002).

It is also the home of one of Sligo's Greatest Traditional Irish Music Sessions held every Sunday night,where some of Ireland's top Traditional Musicians play, from the King of the Accordion (Joe Bourke), Seamus Tansey (one of Ireland's Greatest Flute players ) to bands such as Sheebeen to name just a few. The Session is hosted by some of Sligo's Greatest local musicians and is a night not to be missed!

Also the Dooney has great student  nights during the student year and has proven  very popular with the 3rd  level Students of Sligo.

On Friday and Saturday Nights there are  always live acts from one man show to Easy Listening Bands.
The Dooney has a reputation for a Great pint, served by friendly and efficient staff, is a great place to go for just a nice relaxing pint on your own or meet up with some interesting company.....

In November of 1999 a new addition was opened at The Dooney, this was The Restaurant Coriander's, acknowledged as one of Sligo's finest Restaurants, Serving Ala Carte Fare, from locally sourced foods.

During the Summer season Restaurant Corianders as well as been opened at nights is also opened during the Day where you can avail of anything from a Breakfast to a Prime Irish Sirloin, a tasty Baked Potato with choice if Fillings and lots more... so have a great time in a great place and visit The Dooney Bar & Restaurant Corriander's....
