Books about Chinese Adoption |
|
|
|
I guess you could say I have become obsessed with all things China and all things adoption. I have been reading books on Chinese adoption since starting our paperwork and here is what I have been through thus far:
The Lost Daughters of China by Karin Evans A must read. It details the writer's travels in China as they went to adopt their daughter. Interspersed are facts about abandonment and issues facing China. This is a book I gave my parents to read and help answer some of their questions on children abandoned in China.
Daughter from Afar by Sarah L. Woodard Chronicles the author's adoption from China with great depth and honesty.
The Waiting Child by Cindy Champnella The true story of an adopted child from China and her desire to bring home an orphaned boy she left behind. Very touching.
Miracles for Marlee by Shannon G. Turner A mother's story of her family's struggle to bring home their daughter from China.
A Passage to the Heart: Writings from Families with Children from China edited by Amy Klatzkin This book is a series of writing on adoption from China posted by various people who are members of the FCC chat group. I have enjoyed it and bookmarked many different pages as resources.
Intercountry Adoption from China by Jay & Jacy Rojewsky Factual. Lots of facts and statistics on adoption from China.
Dim Sum, Bagels and Grits by Myra Alperson I really enjoyed this book and found it entertaining and a quick and easy read with practical advice on interracial families.
Sisters Redeem Their Grumpy Dad by Terry Garlock Lots of cute stories on a new Dad as he experiences fatherhood at 50.
The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck A classic tale on Chinese culture and the traditional role of women.

Zen Shorts by Jon J. Muth This is a newly released book that is a New York Times bestseller. The main character is a Panda bear named Stillwater. The tales are Buddhist stories rewritten for children. The artwork is fantastic.
I Love You LIke Crazy Cakes by Rose A. Lewis I love this book. It tells the story of a mother who travels from the U.S. to China to adopt her daughter. It is a Chinese-adoption classic. I can't wait to read it to Chloe!! |
