Jackson plans concerts to aid kids in Kosovo
You know he loves the children.
But he hates the press conferences. So Michael Jackson yesterday released a videotaped statement firming up his plans for two fund-raising concerts for kids in Kosovo and other trouble spots.
"I've wanted to help these suffering children for a very, very long time," Jackson said on tape. "These innocent children are in such pain because of the greed and political disagreement of us adults.
"To help these children is not charity. It is our duty."
The oddball pop icon has dubbed the first show, to be held in Seoul June 25, "Michael Jackson and Friends: What More Can I Do." The next concert will be held June 27 in Munich.
Jackson promoter Marcel Avram, who just finished serving time for tax evasion in Germany, promises Diana Ross, Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder and Boyz II Men will participate in the international extravaganza.
Proceeds from the two concerts will be distributed through the International Committee of the Red Cross, Nelson Mandela's Children's Fund and UNESCO, Jackson said.
