June 4, 1999: In an interview given by actor Ahmed Best he explains how Michael wanted to play the character of Jar Jar Binks in George Lucas's latest Star Wars film, "The Phantom Menace".
In London, England George Lucas, Natalie Portman and Ahmed Best went backstage at one of Michael's concerts to meet him, "Backstage, George introduced me. He goes, 'This is Ahmed, also known as Jar Jar Binks.' I thought, 'I wonder why he said that.' Come to find out, Michael was campaigning for the part. George said to cast him would compromise the movie because he's such a big star." Ahmed told Rolling Stone Online.
Ahmed Best is a 25-year-old from South Bronx, USA. Picked from the musical/dance production "Stomp" to portray the charater of Jar Jar, the film "The Phantom Menace" was his first movie role. Ahmed names Michael Jackson as one of his influences.
