Tickets.com Inc., an online seller of event tickets, has agreed to combine operations with two other ticketing companies in a bid to compete more aggressively with USA Networks Inc.'s Ticketmaster division.
Tickets.com also said it has received $30 million in private financing from various investors, including pop singer Michael Jackson's investment firm, Jackson International LLC, and MG/Chase Sports Capital, a fund partly controlled by sports marketing giant International Management Group.
Tickets.com said its relationship with Jackson International and IMG/Chase Sports Capital, firms with ties to the entertainment and sports industries, will help it gain access to new venues. "What I hope we will be able to leverage for Tickets.com is IMG's enormous access to venues all over the world," said David Moross, managing partner at IMG/Chase Sports Capital Fund.
