Transforming into a multi faceted supergroup collectively and
individually showing diversity touching every aspect of the entertainment business . . . DRU WORLD ORDER
Expanding their musical, business and industry horizons, multi-platinum superstar group Dru Hill announced the formation of Dru World Order, a ground breaking, highly ambitious endeavor involving individual and collective recording projects, guaranteed to rock the new millennium. The unprecedented, multi-tiered "Dru World Order" agenda encompasses the recently realigned Dru Hill trio - Sisqo, Nokio, and Jazz (who are featured on Will Smith's No. 1 platinum, twice MTV-Awards nominated, "Wild Wild West" soundtrack hit and video), and original group member Woody (now solo and on the inspirational artist fast track). Each has signed separate production deals with Def Soul/Def Jam Records, resulting in all four running their own label imprints. In turn each will oversee and represent the debut releases on their respective ventures; in addition, the labels will each boast a roster of outstanding new artists. "We're simply taking it to the next level," says Sisqo, who with Nokio and Jazz have another hit on their hands via the remarkable "Beauty" remix single. It's featured on the upcoming "Best Man" film soundtrack, and available in its original form on Dru Hill's 1998 multi-platinum sophomore set ENTER THE DRU.
Spearheading the unprecedented Dru World Order deal will be the most anticipated R&B album of the decade, soul/R&B heartthrob Sisqo's phenomenal, Genre elevating November 1999 solo CD release. Keeping the fierce indivi-Dru-al flavor flowing, extraordinary new albums are also on track for Woody (January 2000), Jazz (April 2000), and Nokio (July 2000). The four solo sets will be powerhouse preludes to Dru Hill's third album, scheduled to be in stores November 2000. All signs indicate it will be their finest group album ever. Kevin Liles, President of Def Jam/Def Soul Records, says the purpose of Dru World Order is, in a word, growth. "This will be a historical, ground breaking endeavor," he explains. "If we all pull together and do what we're capable of, there's no doubt in my mind Dru Hill, both collectively and individually, will be transformed into the multifaceted international stars they deserve to be. But our mission goes beyond stardom and selling records. Dru World Order will ensure that the fellas are well versed in every aspect of the music business."
Acquiring the skills and credentials to run their own labels is also rooted in the fact that Dru Hill is one of the most talented, knowledgeable and sought after groups in the world. Among the major artists to benefit from their harmonic, golden pipes are Mariah Carey, Foxy Brown, and Mya. Most recently the Dru Crew was asked by the "Rocket Man," Sir Elton John himself, to complete a song on the soundtrack for his and Tim Rice's "Aida," an upcoming Disney musical. The versatile Dru Hill also completed a song for Will Smith's upcoming CD; and, the ever-amazing Sisqo is working on a track with King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
The professional genesis of Baltimore born and based Dru Hill dates back to 1996 and their self-titled, million-seller debut album. Since then they've had eight No. 1 singles, and earned 5 Billboard Music Awards (ala the smash platinum singles "In My Bed" and "Tell Me," both featured on their first set; as was the classic gold ballad, "Never Make A Promise." Another Dru Hill milestone hit was "How Deep is Your Love," one of their second CD's most magnificent moments, and the song that gave them additional mainstream audience momentum.
Having received raves as head liners of their recent international concert tour, and now loved and respected around the world, Dru Hill continues to raise the R&B/soul-pop bar with their show-stopping performances and breakthrough achievements. A brand new Dru Hill / Def Soul beginning that raises industry standards and urban contemporary music opportunities, the group's solo and united fronts are set to shine brighter than a galaxy of super-novas. "The Dru World Order is a culmination of where we've been, where we're at, and where we're going," Sisqo concludes. "It's also a dream we've all shared since the beginning. And now, by the grace of God, it's finally a reality."
