Flying Eye Hitchhiker  In a Mystery Box!

Wedding Mystery Letterbox  Sssh, it's a Mystery!

Found

This was a really cool day, as far as letterboxing goes.  Doodle figured out the location of the Wedding Mystery Letterbox (she loves Google!) and we set out early Sunday morning (remember, early for us still is about 10 am).  We got there just in time, because some other people had also just arrived and were starting to set up in the area for a wedding reception (how apropos).  Luckily, they weren't in the area we were going, so we proceeded as planned.  We were a little puzzled at one point, because the clues became very vague (in our opinion) as to which direction to proceed in, but Deedle had a sixth sense moment and managed to lead us to where the box was hidden.  He actually found the hitchhiker first, in just a baggie, and at first we thought that was the letterbox until we managed to read what we could on the front page of the logbook.  Deedle went back to the hiding spot and emerged with the actual letterbox, in its container.  Our first mystery box find!  Not only that, although the letterbox was placed in January 2003, we were the first ones to log into the logbook.  The placer confirmed that we were, indeed, the First Finders of this box.  Our first First Finders!  Finding this box, which was placed in honor of someone's wedding, was extra special for us.  The day we found the box was the one-year anniversary of when we had first met – at the rehearsal dinner for our friends' wedding.  Doodle and the bride had literally known each other forever; Deedle and the groom were college buddies.  We were paired together in the bridal party.  No one ever thought that we'd start dating J

But we digress.  For waiting so long to be found, the Wedding Mystery Letterbox was in great condition.  Too bad we couldn't say the same for the poor Flying Eye Hitchhiker.  The Flying Eye had plenty of time to recoup from its long journey (he originated in Oregon).  The stamp was a little dirty, but otherwise still in decent condition, but the logbook's pages had literally melded together.  Ick.  Once we got home we managed to contact the originator.  The Flying Eye made a stop back home to be cleaned up before continuing his journey.

Take me back!
