 Attempt

Back when we first started dating, before we found out about Letterboxing, we had visisted Music Mound, never knowing that we were surrounded by letterboxes.  At first we couldn't locate Box One, so we went to find Box Two first.

What We've Learned While Letterboxing, Item 4:  It's often helpful to become familiar with a placer's "style."  This way you can better judge how big a pace is, what they mean when they describe things certain ways, and most importantly, what the box you're looking for looks like!  When we don't know yet know their style, but there are multiple boxes placed in a series, finding Box Two first can sometimes help in the location of Box One (because then you know what the container most likely looks like).

And such was the case here.  We found Boxes Two through Seven, and then went back again to find Box One before finding Box Eight, which was the main letterbox.

Buoyed by our success (eight finds in one go) we headed out to Lorain County to find the French Creek box.  This was a Polly box, Polly of the Giddyup Series, and we felt we had a pretty good feel for her "style."

What We've Learned While Letterboxing, Item 5:  The terrain that a box is placed in can change from season to season.

For example, a box placed in October (as French Creek was) most likely wasn't placed when a lot of pricker bushes were in bloom (as were when we went searching for this box in June).  Too much pricky stuff and we were both in shorts.  We decided to come back in the Fall, when the prickers are hopefully dead.

Take me back!
