| Gorumara National Park, with an area of about 80 sq. k.m., is one of the recent introductions to the National Parks map of India. It is famous for being one of the last small pockets in Eastern India with a natural population of the Great Indian one horned Rhinos. The Indian Elephant and the Indian Bison are also found as well as leopards, sloth bear,hog deer, pigmy hog, sambar, python, turtle, langoors etc. The forest is mainly tropical moist deciduous Sal forests associated with Odal, Lali, Katus, Teak, Dilenia, Simul-Siris-Khair, Terai Grass land. Bird watcher can enjoy beautiful birds like Indian pied Hornbill, Munia, Thrush, Sunbird, Flycatcher, Minivet, Drongo, Oriole, Woodpecker, and many more migratory birds from 'Suksukia' bird watching point. How to get at Gorumara ( Approach & Access ) : |

| The National Park is found in the localities of Lataguri, Chalsa and Nagrakata, beside National Highway 31, which connects Siliguri and Guwahati. Malbazar is about 55 k.m., from Siliguri which can be reached either by train or by road. Gorumara is about 18 k.m. from Malbazar. Arrangements can be made at Murti Rest House or at Meghamallar Touist Lodge at Malbazar and the conducted tour also includes Jhalong and Bindu. Murti forest rest house is about 12 km from Chalsa.To visit the park during day-time only, the visitors have to collect their permit from Lataguri Nature Interpretation Centre. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
