This is about as eclectic a combination of vocal group videos as can be assembled, ranging from the 1940s into the 1960s, but not in chronological order. While the production value of the individual pieces is generally quite good, the splicing together of these works leaves something to be desired as there are several spots with an inordinate amount of either "black screen" or "blue screen" (or both) dead air. The original sources vary from "Soundies" films of the 1940s, through 1950s (apparent) movie clips, to 1960s TV show material.
There are no titles at the beginning of the videotape to indicate anything about its compilation or composition. It begins abruptly with the Diamonds' performance. There is some intermittent titling for some of the individual performances. The tape's ending is as abrupt as its beginning - the screen shows a title for a "Soundie" shown earlier on the tape (Till Then by the Mills Bros.) and goes promptly "blue."
All complete, or practically complete, songs in this compilation are listed below in the order of their appearance. In addition, there is a brief section of film snippets from movie trailers featuring several different artists - I note this fact here in passing and without detail, just "for the record," and indicate their location on the tape in the list which appears below. Alan Freed introduces several of the 1950s acts, Joey Bishop introduces the Checkmates, and Louis Jordan introduces the Chanteclairs.
