ROCK, ROCK, ROCK!

SOUNDTRACK

YEAR OF RELEASE : 1956

STARRING : Alan Freed, Teddy Randazzo, The Three Chuckles, LaVern Baker, Cirino & the Bowties, Jimmy Cavallo & His House Rockers, the Moonglows, Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers, Johnny Burnette, Chuck Berry, the Flamingos, Tuesday Weld, Jacqueline Kerr, Ivy Schulman, Fran Manfred, Jack Collins, Carol Moss, and the Alan Freed Rock 'N' Roll Orchestra

This movie was released in December 1956. It was produced by Vanguard Productions and introduced Tuesday Weld to the screen. Connie Francis recorded the 2 songs that Tuesday Weld "sang" in the movie (Tuesday "lip-synched" Connie's recordings).

Alan Freed did a "World Premiere" of all 20 tracks on this LP on his show on WINS on Saturday, October 20, 1956. The LP was sent to at least 600 DJs by Distributors Corporation of America (DCA), the distribution company which also released the film.

The LP was never officially released at retail; however, in the 1980s, some "bootleg" copies made in Australia appeared on the market. This LP (Reel 'N Rock JN 5703), with a "1957" date, has a gatefold cover with photos of the artists. The images above are of the original LP cover, which is NOT a gatefold and has a blank back (left), and the Australian "bootleg" (right).

NOTE: Do not confuse this LP with the Chess label "Rock Rock Rock" LP (and CD) which features only four songs from the movie by Chuck Berry (You Can't Catch Me), the Flamingos (Would I Be Crying) and the Moonglows (Over And Over Again and I Knew From The Start), plus 8 more songs by these 3 artists. The Chess issue is very common, while this LP is rare (original) or at least scarce ("bootleg").
