THE PASSIONS - JUST TO BE WITH YOU -
(Relic CD #7031)

Though the Relic label has gone out of business, this CD remains available from some "oldies" dealers at reasonable prices. Get it while you can. Liner notes by Bob Diskin tell the group's story in 4 pages.

This 1992 package contains what appears to be all the tracks by the Passions released by the Audicon, Octavia and Jubilee labels between 1959 & 1962, plus some alternate takes. Formed in Brooklyn in 1958 by a melding of members of two previously-unsuccessful and unrecorded vocal groups [the Sinceres from Bensonhurst and the Runarounds from Red Hook], the Passions consisted of Jimmy Gallagher (lead), Tony Armato (first tenor), Albie Galione (second tenor),and Vinny Acierno (baritone).

If you like "white" doo-wop harmony, this one is a "keeper."
