CAVEAT EMPTOR!!! - Let the Buyer Beware!!
Canada's Madacy label is notorious for issuing re-recordings while giving the impression that the tracks on their CDs are the original recordings.
This 6 CD series, released in 2000, appears to be the height of Madacy's hypocrisy. This set is VERY deceptive. Each CD bears the "Cedar" and "UV22" marks, indicative of old recordings digitally filtered to get rid of surface noise, pops, clicks, etc. Every CD bears the phrase "ORIGINAL ARTISTS" - well, maybe, but, for the most part, NOT original recordings. In the main these are re-recordings made many years after-the-fact, as opposed to the hit versions. But the track listing shows the year and peak chart position of the original release.
Even at retail prices of around $5.00 apiece, my advice is to save your money, unless you specialize in having every re-make of a song by what purports to be the original artist.
