FRANKIE LYMON & THE TEENAGERS - LIVE, RARE & UNRELEASED -
(Live Gold CD # LG10001CD)

This CD, released by Live Gold Productions in 1989, is not easy to find. It contains 17 tracks - 2 brief interviews with Frankie Lymon and 15 songs (including 3 versions of Why Do Fools Fall In Love and 2 of Goody Goody).

The recordings come from the April 15, 1956 Alan Freed's Easter Jubilee of Stars at the Brooklyn Paramount, a 1956 appearance on Alan Freed's Camel Rock 'N' Roll Dance Party on WCBS AM radio, 1957 and 1958 appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show, apparent rehearsals (only piano accompaniment) at the Executive Sound Studios, Bronx, NY, on May 3, 1959, and a New Year's Eve 1960 appearance in a Brooklyn night club.

Sound quality varies from track to track, as might be expected given the variety of sources employed in putting this CD together, and the volume from one track to another could have been more uniformly engineered. Still, this is a package worth acquiring.

Get this one if you can.
