ALBUM REVIEW

LITTLE WILLIE JOHN - 28 BIG ONES -
(King CD # 28CD-4111)

This 2000 release from King (now out of Nashville!!) gives you all the Little Willie John tunes you would want to hear. Somewhat forgotten today, Little Willie was a 1950s - early 1960s phenomenon - a young blues/R&B singer whose tunes cracked the pop market. He had his share of hits, and was also "covered" many times by other artists, most notably Peggy Lee's cover of his original "Fever."

Willie was considered a "Rock 'N' Roll" artist back when he was recording (1955 - 1961). He died in prison at the age of 30 on May 26, 1968.

This is a "budget line" CD, selling for about $10, so there is no leaflet inside - just a single sheet cover. The back cover gives a basic bio and lists the tunes - that's all. Nonetheless worth getting at the price.

I've inserted approximate release dates, where known. Assistance in completing the list of release dates would be appreciated.
