LITTLE RICHARD - THE SPECIALTY SESSIONS -
(Specialty 3-CD set # SPCD 8508)

Unless you are a "heavy" Little Richard collector, this is all the Little Richard you will ever need. Although he recorded for RCA Victor and Peacock before signing with Specialty, and with Vee-Jay afterward, Richard achieved his greatest successes with the label, and all of his hits are here.

But this box set, with an LP-sized book and additional liner notes accompanying each CD, goes beyond being a "greatest hits" package, and gives you just about everything by Richard that was in Specialty's "archives" - demo recordings, alternate takes and apparent "practice" sessions, even a handful of Gene Nobles' Royal Crown Hairdresing commercials.

The package appears to be a cooperative effort between Specialty and the British reissue label, Ace, whose logo appears on the LP-sized book.

Dates shown below are recording session dates.

Nice package, worth getting.
