This 2-CD set from Collectables, released in 1992 and still available, is the best Heartbeats package on the market. It is far superior to the single CD Heartbeats / Limelites compilation on Rhino. It contains 40 tracks - 30 by the Heartbeats (including 4 previously unreleased) and 10 by the successor group Shep & the Limelites.
James "Shep" Sheppard formed the Heartbeats in the mid-'50s and their silky smooth sound soon became a favorite with songs like "A Thousand Miles Away" and "Crazy For You". When the Heartbeats disbanded in 1960, Sheppard formed Shep & The Limelights best remembered for the #2 chart hit "Daddy's Home".
