ALBUM REVIEW

THE HARPTONES - GOLDEN CLASSICS - THE GOLDNER RECORDINGS 1956-57 -
(Collectables CD # 5401)

This CD, released in 1991, is still available. It covers the Harptones' at the high point of their career. It contains some of their very best work - the tracks cut for George Goldner's Rama and Gee record labels in 1956 and 1957, most notably "On Sunday Afternoon," "That's The Way It Goes," "Three Wishes," "The Masquerade Is Over," and "Shrine Of Saint Cecilia.".

Notes by Phil Groia and a complete Harptones discography make this better than a "typical" Collectables label package.

Essential for any Harptones collection.
