This CD, released by Collectables in 1997, is currently available. It covers the Du Droppers' recordings for RCA Victor and its subsidiary, Groove, between 1953 and 1955, and contains roughly half the sides they recorded for RCA/Groove.
The Du Droppers is one of those "lost" groups, who recorded during the seminal years of what was to become "Rock 'N' Roll." The group was formed in 1952 and consisted of J.C. Ginyard (lead), Willie Ray (tenor/baritone), Harvey Ray (bariotne/tenor), and Eddie Hashaw (bass). They cut one session for Bobby Robinson's Red Robin label, which included "Can't Do 60 No More", an answer record to the Dominoes' "60 Minute Man".
After the Red Robin session, which resulted in 2 singles, but no chart action, Hashaw left and was replaced by Bob Kornegay. The group left Robinson and signed with RCA Victor in 1953. In August 1954, Joe VanLoan (of the Ravens) joined the group, and in September, Harvey Ray left. A good brief history of the group was written by John Charles Marion.
