The CHANCE Label -
A news item in the December 16, 1950 issue of Billboard, datelined Chicago, notes that "Steve Chandler, local realty agent, has started the Chance label. His first R&B releases are by Schoolboy Porter & His Orch." The label was based at 2011 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago 16, Illinois.
Ownership of the label passed to Art Sheridan, who also operated American Record Distributing and who owned the Armour Plastics pressing plant, where the records were pressed.
Chance releases were in 2 series - an 1100 series for R&B, and a 5000 series for gospel.
The label went out of business around the end of 1954.
