Released in 1999 & 2000 by Collectables, this 4-volume (24-CD) set is a great bargain package. The one problem with it, is that it is even worse than "typical Collectables" in the area of documentation - there is NONE!
Volumes can be obtained either indivdually, or as an entire collection. Tracks are in a random order - neither chronological, nor by artist, nor by label. There seems to be some degree of commonality of style within each CD. We note a relatively small amount of duplication of titles. In all, 23 titles are duplicated in the 4 volumes.
If you want a collection that covers big hits and "mainstream oldies" from the mid-1950s through the 1970s, this series is a worthwhile acquisition.
