Burdens of Peace

By The Lady of Pax

The cross was heavy on his back...
but it was his cross to bear...
He had earned it with blood...
Blood... From himself and from others.

"How funny," he thought as he carried his burden across the sand.
A symbol of peace earned through blood. And violence.

He flicked his cigarette out into the air and it landed with a soft hiss.

His cross barried it as it dragged behind him making a path in the sand.

He pushes his sunglasses up on his nose. He hides his eyes for he doesn't want anyone to see his soul, for he it not what he seems, maybe if he can fool everyone else, he can fool himself.
