Anthropomorphic Fun

Episode Five

By Jammer

Traveling on to the cities of the months, the group traveled to Augusta. They would have gone to July but someone destroyed it twenty years earlier. Vash hung his head in silence.

"I'm just glad that Bernardelli didn't have to pay for that event." Meryl sighed.

"Now, Meryl," Milly smiled warmly, "Let's not dwell on the past."

Once reaching Augusta they checked into a hotel. Augusta was a really big city, full of people, businesses, and really tall buildings. The hotel itself was several stories tall. The girls checked into one room, and Vash into another. Once again, Wolfwood disappeared.

Vash, back to his usual bounciness, hopped onto his bed, enjoying having some comfort for a change. Usually he had to sleep on a bus or camp out. But this bed was as soft as down.

Vash was just about to fall asleep when he noticed a letter that had been left on a table in the room. He got up to see what it was.

"I'm waiting for you in town. You better be ready, Vash the Stampede."

"Legato.." Vash scowled. Once again more people were being threatened. "I have to clear the city!" Donning a more serious look, Vash headed out into the hall.

"Where are you going, Mr. Vash?" The calico and the squirrel peaked out from their own room, their tails twitching in wait.

"Listen." Vash didn't turn to look at them, "There's going to be trouble now. If you value your lives, then get out of this city."

"Vash?" Meryl was curious now as to where this serious tone was coming from. "We can't do that! We have to follow you! It's our job!"

"Is your job more important than your life? You should leave this city." And Vash walked on.

"Come on, Meryl." Milly picked up her little squirrel friend. "We better do what he says."

"But!" Meryl blinked, trying to think things through, "Milly! Put me down!"

---

The jackrabbit had a semi-easy time emptying the city. The residents were more than willing to leave once learning that the legendary outlaw was hanging about.

"This isn't funny anymore!" Vash plopped down on his tail and sighed. Hey! This is a more serious part of the story! It's hard to make this funny! "Well, you could try harder!"

Vash waited, and waited, and waited for the writer of the note.

---

Legato watched Vash from atop a cliff. "Where are those underlings?" He sniffed at his left paw.

"I believe they died two parts ago." Midvalley the Hornfreak watched along with the evil, gray cat. Midvalley was a rather tall mongoose, and he carried his saxophone in a case by his side.

"Is that so?" Legato's tail twitched. "Well, I'll just have to play with the irritating rabbit myself then." He smiled evily. Like any mischeivous cat, he enjoyed toying with his prey.

---

Back on the ground Vash was really getting frustrated. Then he noticed, "Hey..my arm feels funny.." He glanced down at him arm and the gun he was holding. "No!! It's the same as before!"

"Yes, Vash! You know what this planet deserves. It's your job to deliver the blow!"

"Wh...Legato?! Quit invading my mind! Make it stop!!" Vash cried out, "This can't be happening! Not again!"

"Yes, again! Now release it! Release that energy!!"

"NOOOO!!!" Vash pointed his now transforming arm and gun skyward. "I WON'T LET HIM WIN!!" And with that, Vash's Angel Arm shot beam into the air.

A powerful beam that would ruffle the fur and feathers of most creatures in awe and fear. A beam that burned a hole into the moon.

And that explains why the moon is made out of swiss cheese!

The surrounding city was demoslished, rubble lay everywhere, and Vash at the center of it all. So much for Augusta being saved.

Wolfwood popped up over a fallen water tower. "Vash?! What was that?? I was sleeping and then..."

A rumbling noise shook the ground, sending both Vash and Wolfwood into to positions of alert! Not that that helped them. Once again, Vash managed to strike a gas pipe, and both Vash and Wolfwood were blown up into the sky with the surrounding shrapnel.

"YA NA KANJIIIII!!!!!"
