Pylons of Ramesses II, Luxor Temple Entrance
Luxor Temple was almost entirely built during the 18th Dynasty by Amenhotep III and Ramesses II. It was the centre of political and religious power. Once a year, during the Feast of Opet, the gold statue of Amun was carried along the Avenue of Sphinxes to Karnak Temple.
