What is Wicca?
Millions of things come to mind, but this is basic.
Wicca is a nature based religion that worships/believes in a God and Goddess which are the two sides of Spirit. We believe in reincarnation until we find/fulfill our hearts desire.
People think that Wiccans are going "away" from "God". Actually, we're just finding a better path toward "her/him".
We're a lot like any other religion except we believe in magick.
People misunderstand Wicca and Witches. The stereotype of a witch is an old hag with warts and a long black robe. Standing over a giant cauldron, throwing in nasty ingredients, and saying hocus pocus.
The actual Witch could be any person who believes in this religion, male or female. You might think that some people are witches because they're mean, but you know what, witches make a promise to be nice.

The Burning Times
When Roman Catholocism first came to England,
Catholics and Wiccans got along fine.
Later on, in the 1200's, the Catholics wanted everyone
to be their religion. They started hanging "witches".
Most of the people who they they thought were witches, really weren't.
The people they hung were all women and even some children.
Soon it started spreading to other places where they were burning many people if they showed any sign of "sorcery".
The Malleus Malificarum (The Witch Hammer) is one of the most
infamous books in history. It was made
to help find and persecute the "witches".

Many people think the Pentacle is a devil-worshipping sign. Written here is the true meaning of the pentacle. oh yeah. one more thing. Witches don't even believe in the devil or any other supreme evil.

The Pentacle



	Spirit: Spirit is the top point. It represents the creators of all life, the God and the Goddess together. The God and Goddess are very important to us because they give us life and help us work the magick that we do. They love us and care for us every day of our lives. The God and Goddess have given us the four elements and these elements are the other four points. Air: Air is important to all of us. We breathe it all the time. If we did not have air we would die. Take a deep breath, feel the air. Water: We also need water to survive. If we didn't have water we would shrivel up and die. We have water in our mouth and eyes; the blood in our bodies is wet. Move your tongue around your mouth, feel the water. Fire: Fire is warm, even hot sometimes. Feel your body it is warm. Every person has fire in their body. Sometimes when you have too much fire in your body you have a fever. Earth: From the earth we get our food which keeps us alive. Our body is also made up of earth, it is solid; touch your arm and feel it. So the next time someone asks, "What does that star mean?" you can say: "It is a Pentacle. It represents the four elements Air, Fire, Water, and Earth, that's the four points of the star. The fifth point is the Spirit the God and Goddess who we love."
