Saturday or Sunday, Which Day is the Sabbath?
Perhaps the first, and easiest answer to this question is "..The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God." (Ex. 20:10)
However, this usually leads to the further question, "Which day is the seventh?" Is it Saturday, Sunday, or some other day of the week?
Those who trust the historical records believe that the weekly cycle we now have is the same as the one which was followed 2000 - 3000 years ago.  That is, the one beginning with Sunday (first day) and ending with Saturday (Seventh Day), recognizing, of course, that the days did not have the same names they do now.
However, for those who are not sure about the trustworthiness of our records, lets examine a few facts briefly.
Almost the entire Christendom today commemorates the cricifixion of Christ on Good Friday.  They also celebrate His resurrection on the Sunday following Good Friday.  The day between Friday and Sunday is Saturday.
Now let's see what the Bible says:

In Mark 15, we read the story of Christ's crucifixion.  At the end of the crucifixion, in verses 42, 43 we read: "
And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath, Joseph of Arimathea ... went in boldly unto Pilate and craved the body of Jesus.
This verse very clearly declares that the day of the crucifixion took place on the day before the Sabbath.  So since we accept Good Friday as the day of the crucifixion it is only reasonable that we should accept the day after Good Friday (Saturday), as the Sabbath.
