French Quarter Rainstorm
FRENCH QUARTER RAINSTORM A rainy afternoon in the French Quarter of New Orleans. ". . . I had been walking the sidewalks for what seemed like hours . . . maybe days . . . not really knowing what, or who, I was looking for. The rain had come quickly without much warning, which is usual for spring in the French Quarter. . . the air becoming heavy . . . almost too thick to breathe . . . very still . . . then, at once, the rain in a quick, unrelenting downpour . . . and, as suddenly as it had come, the rain stops, the air is clear . . . the cement is shiny from the water; a breeze, ever so calm . . .
