The Donoghue Family in West Ham, London
Margaret Donaghue nee .................... was born ...............1816 in Ireland,
She married
John Donaghue in ..............................at............................ They had at least one son that we are aware of, Michael Donohue, Margaret was 40yrs old.
(
In those days family's had anything from 8 to 12 children on average, so we do expect to find a few more!!!)
In 1856 when Michael was born John and Margaret were living in Rotherhithe, Surrey.  (Which is on the Southern side of the Thames, opposite West Ham.  Zoom in and out with the maps to get a greater appreciation of where you are.)

(
When Michael married in 1877 his Marriage Cert gives his place of residence as
1 Tucker Street, Canning Town. Which is West of Rotherhithe on the Northern side of the Thames.  It's possible he was living there with his father John and mother Margaret. We can't find Tucker Street, so it may no longer exist.  Canning Town could be said to be either under the general unbrella of West Ham, or on it's Western border.
)

At the time of the 1881 Census, Margaret was visiting her son Michael and her daughter in law Alice Donahue nee Victory at 3 New Road, West Ham, Essex.
Margaret is noted as being 65yrs of age. (We can't find 3 New Road in West Ham, it's possible that it too no longer exists, this will need looking into, West Ham, being on the Northern side of the Thames from Rotherhithe.  So Michael  didn't move all that far from where he was born.)

When Margaret died on the 28th December 1884 aged 69yrs old, at Denmark Street, West Ham, U.S.D. in the Registration District West Ham, Sub-district of West Ham in the County of Essex. (Denmark Street is to the West of West Ham, in the Canning Town area)

Cause of Death is listed as the following: Died suddenly in a natural way and not from any violence to the knowledge of the Jurors. Certificate recieved from Charles C. Lewis Coroner for Essex.  Inquest held 1st day of January 1885. The death being registered on the 5th January 1885 by registrar R.W.B. Marsh.  Her husband
John Donaghue is listed as a Labourer.   We have a small mystery here, at the time his son Michael got married in 1877, (4yrs before the next Census), Michael's  father's name and surname is John Donohue, his rank or profession is listed as Labourer.  Now if John was dead, they usually put, deceased after his name, so it's fare to assume John was still alive in 1877.  In the 1881 Census, Margaret is visiting her Son and Daughter in Law, no mention of Margaet's husband John, and at the time of her death, John is only mentioned as being  her husband, he is not listed as the informant!!!  That was done by way of a certificate from the Coroner for Essex.  So where is John Donaghue???
