The nucleus of the band was formed in 1986 by lead guitarist Scott Dowless and bassist Donny Martin. John Griffin joined early in 1988 adding acoustic guitar, mandolin and the Roland VG-8 guitar synthesizer. A drummer search in January of 1991 turned up Foster Scott, a New York transplant. J.T. Layton, master of lead, rhythm and pedal steel guitars, mandolin and keyboards decided to sign on in October 1994.
The band was formed.
Since it's conception, the band's audiences have enjoyed the Rockaholics' performances at numerous private parties in the Carolinas as well as appearances at the following clubs:
